Board MembersKathleen Shamblen, President and Interim Treasurer Kathy with three generations moved to the Hilton Head/Bluffton area in 1982 from Ballwin (St. Louis County), Missouri. She raised a fourth generation, two sons, Matt, a member of Bluffton Fire Department, and Nathan, a senior at University of SC Beaufort/New River Campus. Kathy resides with her husband (A major Buckeye Fan) Mr. Steve Shamblen, and their menagerie of one dog and two cats. They live in Bluffton and adore their neighbors and community. She loves to walk their dog and play on the docks and area waters. She has worked in the accounting/audit field for 30 years. Kathy has a passion for sports, cooking, gardening, and has been an active volunteer since moving to the area. She earned her degree in Business Management from University of South Carolina, and also completed a certificate in Accounting from the Beaufort/New River Branch. Matthew Urys, Secretary Matthew Urys has been a member of the lowcountry since the day he was born. Local, and proud of it, Matt currently resides in Okatie and is a Firefighter/EMT for the Bluffton Township Fire District. He's recently engaged to an Arkansas Razorback fan. He has a passion for sports, fishing, water sports, anything that involves adrenaline rushes. He also enjoys helping others. If he's not at work you can most likely find him on a ball field giving a hand or just enjoying the local games. He's, of course, a South Carolina Gamecock fan. He also enjoys the golf course, hanging out on a dock, just plain hanging somewhere on or near the water. Lindsay Burnett, Director Lindsay has been a member of the Bluffton community since 1994 and a Lowcountry resident since 1981, she has four children who were born and raised here, along with a father who lives on Hilton Head. Lindsay is Co Owner of Palm Key Catering with her partner Brentt Toole, she also holds the "Steward" position at the Yacht Club of Hilton Head. Lindsay has been on the board of the Farmers Market of Bluffton since inception, first as a board member, then its Secretary, and President, throughout she has been instrumental to its growth and development. Lindsay holds a passion for the beautiful Lowcountry and it's people, and currently resides on the banks of our breathtaking May River tending to her flock of chickens. Lindsay is a graduate of Bay Path College. Suzanne Culp is currently the Vice President of Operations for iSelectMD Holdings, LLC. iSelectMD is a South Carolina based Telemedicine company offering its services in the state of South Carolina with expansion to North Carolina, Georgia and Florida shortly. Prior to that Suzanne was a Senior Account Manager for eSecuritel Holdings, LLC, a wireless handset insurance company, where she served 6 years. Prior to that, Suzanne’s experience was in Wireless Sales and Marketing where she worked with several wireless companies from right out of college until expanding into the handset insurance arena. Suzanne has a bachelor’s of science degree from the University of Massachusetts. Suzanne has been a resident of Bluffton for 20 years. Julie Markey, Director Julie has been a resident of the Lowcountry since 1997. Her passion for gardening, cooking, composting and overall, leading a healthy lifestyle contributes to her enthusiasm in sharing what the Market brings to the community. Julie earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Wayne State University with a concentration in photography. She is the Chair on the Marketing Committee and specializes in communication through social networking, photography and Constant Contact e-mail marketing. She resides in Okatie with her two Golden Retrievers, Chelsea and Cody Carolina. Cheryl Metz, Director Robin Hutton, Director Preston Ketchum, Director Rudy Milton, Director Rudy is originally from Charleston, SC however she moved to the Lowcountry in 1991 and is a graduate from Hilton Head High School Class of 1999. Rudy loves to shop, travel, spend time with her family, and is a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. She enjoys organic food and oils and helping others how to live a healthy lifestyle. She must be doing something right as Rudy lost over 25 pounds through exercise and eating right. Rudy resides in Hilton Head and has a fourteen year old son named Dominique. Karen Rhodes, Director Karen moved to Bluffton from Raleigh, NC, in 2010. She lived in South Carolina the first 22 years of her life (about half of that in Charleston) before marrying her husband Milt and moving to Buffalo, NY, then back to Charleston, then Raleigh, then Miami, then back to Raleigh. Her background is mostly in magazine editing, and she currently works in documentation management. In Raleigh, she worked for the Center for Environmental Farming Systems and its NC 10 Percent local foods campaign. She occasionally joins Crop Mob Savannah events and loves restaurants serving local foods. She and Milt have two teenage daughters, two 6-year-old Labrador retrievers, and a “beginner” backyard garden. Karen has a B.A. in English from the College of Charleston; a B.S. in nursing and post-baccalaureate Certificate in Technology and Communication from UNC-Chapel Hill; and an M.S. in technical communication from NC State University.
